Welcome to your postgraduate student news summary of key things happening this week.

Congratulations to two lucky UoY students who were recent winners in the Handshake Live Rent Free £3k competition!  

Each and every study journey is different, and so are the tools needed along the way. If you find your circumstances or needs change, there are a range of options available to help your programme adapt alongside you - from needing to extend an individual deadline, to accessing emergency funding, to changing your mode of attendance or programme entirely.

Last week, we emailed staff about the financial challenges impacting universities across the UK and the need for us to make some further financial improvements at York. This week we met with York Students’ Union to discuss our early plans, and you can find out more on our University finance pages, including some Frequently Asked Questions.

Join the online Digital Wednesdays Bitesize: Getting organised with Google session on Wednesday (19 February) to see the potential of Google's tools. Informative posters are a popular way to share research findings and other information at conferences and exhibitions. Come to the Academic posters: Designing posters in PowerPoint online session on Thursday (20 February) or see our Academic Posters Practical Guide to look at design principles behind a successful poster. You can then learn how to present your findings effectively in our Confidence to Present session on Monday 24 February. 

From Monday 3 March, join us for a dedicated week of activities, events and workshops to raise awareness about environmental and social issues. Take part in the role-playing Cocoa Sustainability Challenge game, make a seed bomb, or learn how to repair your own clothes or guitar! Book your place at a range of Sustainability Week events.
