Last week, we emailed staff about the financial challenges impacting universities across the UK and the need for us to make some further financial improvements at York. This week we met with York Students’ Union to discuss our early plans, and you can find out more on our University finance pages, including some Frequently Asked Questions.

3. Study sustainability in 2025/26
|
Our sustainability-related York Interdisciplinary Modules (YIMs) are now open for applications for 2025/26. These award-winning elective modules are a great opportunity to explore sustainability beyond your degree programme and develop interdisciplinary skills for a changing world. Explore our sustainability elective modules and apply by 8 March 2025.

4. Discover your leadership skills
|
Could you have what it takes to become a leader? Explore and develop your leadership skills with York Leaders. It’s a full day session of interactive group challenges, which will advance your understanding of what it means to be a leader, while exploring and developing your own leadership skills in a group setting. Open to undergraduates in their second year or beyond, apply to take part in York Leaders by Friday 28 February.

5. Sustainability Week 2025: look ahead
|
From Monday 3 March, join us for a dedicated week of activities, events and workshops to raise awareness about environmental and social issues. Take part in the role-playing Cocoa Sustainability Challenge game, make a seed bomb, or learn how to repair your own clothes or guitar! Book your place at a range of Sustainability Week events.
